C Interface to NetCDF

Where and When

April 24, 2009 2:00-5:00 pm WRRB 009

Course Description

NetCDF (network Common Data Form) is a set of software libraries and machine-independent data formats that support the creation, access, and sharing of array-oriented scientific data as it is described on Unidata website.

The class covers the C native interface to the library: how to create NetCDF files, add information to existing files, how to read information from NetCDF files in C. It covers such topics as reading slices from the arrays, using attributes, what attributes should be written to the files, and many others. We will write a simple C application that creates a standard NetCDF file, calculates some multidimensional arrays and saves them into the file. We also will write an application that reads standard WRF output file.
