Vis5D is a system for interactive visualization of large 5D gridded data sets (three spatial dimensions, time, and enumerated physical variables) such as those produced by numerical weather and climate models.
Vis5D can display isosurfaces, contours, colored slices and volume renderings of time varying data on a 3 dimensional grid, with or without auxiliary map, elevation or bathymetry data. Vis5D has the capability to animate time-varying data. The Vis5D package includes tools for managing data grids and conversion of time varying, 3D data sets into Vis5D format.
/usr/local/bin
Vis5D data sets are prepared by using calls to the Vis5D data utility functions in your application or post-processing code. Example data preparation and conversion programs and documentation for Vis5D library calls are located in the Vis5D User Guide (see below.)
The Vis5D application can be run from the command line to visualize your data set, for example,
local> vis5d my_data_set.v5d
Vis5D data sets typically use the .v5d filename extension. The GUI control panel is used to select the visualization methods and characteristics, such as isosurface and contour levels and color map.
