Information Assurance (IA) Training

Overview

ARSC is concerned for the safety and security of your data and programs as well as the data of all of our users. Therefore, ARSC, along with our sponsoring agency, the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), requires that all users of our systems complete a short Information Assurance Awareness (IAA) training briefing. Two versions of this training are available:

The ARSC briefing is in compliance with DOD Instruction 8500.2 (http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/i85002_020603/i85002p.pdf) and has been adapted to better fit ARSC's academic environment. Please see the individual sections below to see which training version is right for you.

In addition to the initial training, all user's will need to have annual IAA refresher training. Currently, this consists of re-taking either the ARSC or the DISA training listed below. Please contact User Support if you have any questions about IAA training.

Available Courses

ARSC
Non-DoD users may complete either the DISA training provided for DoD users (described below), or the ARSC Information Assurance Awareness Training (1.65 MB PDF). The ARSC version is similar to the DoD training, but includes some minor modifications made to clarify and emphasize aspects that may be slightly different between the academic and DoD communities.

Once you have completed the training, you will need to print, sign and fax the completion certificate to 907-450-8601. Alternatively, you may hand deliver the printed certificate to an ARSC consultant if you are located on the UAF campus.

DoD
All DoD users must complete the Defense Information Systems Agency training course DoD Information Assurance Awareness, which is available from the High Performance Computing Modernization Program's Training website.
