28 Aug 2015 Unscheduled Downtime

Last Updated: Fri, 28 Aug 2015 -
Machines: bigdipper
Start Time: 08/28/2015 -- 16:00
  End Time: 08/28/2015 -- 18:00
Reason: The Bigdipper storage silo will be rebooted in an effort to clear slow
system response times. All pending batch_stage processes will be placed
on hold during this reboot. Any file copies to and from $ARCHIVE and
projects will need to be restarted following the reboot.

30 Jul 2015 Emergency Downtime

Last Updated: Thu, 30 Jul 2015 -
Machines: bigdipper
Start Time: 07/30/2015 -- 12:00
  End Time: 07/30/2015 -- 13:30
Reason: ARCHIVE file system server emergency reboot

The bigdipper server supporting the ${ARCHIVE} file system was having
intermittent issues and our system admins determined a full reboot of
the system was required to restore services to normal operation.

The ${ARCHIVE} provides long term mass storage for user data at ARSC.
The file system is available from pacman, fish and the Linux workstations.
The system is connected to tape drives in the automated tape library.
Together with the library, bigdipper has a capacity of 7 petabytes (7,000 TB).

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and please
contact us if you have any questions.
