ARSC supports a number of user-accessible workstations running the Linux operating system.

Sun Ultra40 Workstation

Description

At this time, the majority of the available Linux Workstations are Sun Ultra40's while a few are Sun W1100z's. Systems may be added and removed from the mix as new technologies become available. To determine which system(s) to use, please see our system status page which displays all current systems, and (on a five-minute update cycle) shows which are available and approximately how busy they are.

The Linux Workstations at ARSC are located in access labs on the UAF campus. While priority usage is as local console, visualization, and access systems, remote users are welcome to log on and use these systems as well.
