What to do in Alaska
- Go hiking, camping,
backpacking, canoeing, rafting, and rock climbing everywhere.
- Rent or check-out sports equipment, movies, TVs and other random stuff from the dorm office.
- Go Fishing. You can get a short-term license at Wood Center and borrow equipment, or buy something in town.
- Play video games, ping pong, or use the photographic darkroom at UAF's Wood Center.
- Go on a trip with the UAF Student Activities Outdoor Adventures.
- Walk to the Experimental farm, see the animals and the gardens.
- Go running with the Fairbanks Running Club North, or maybe run the Midnight Sun Run 10K!
- Ride bicycles with the Fairbanks Cycling Club.
- Rent a car and drive around Alaska.
- Go to Denali National Park.
- Go to Chena Hot SpringsResort.
- Go to Arctic Circle Hot Springs.
- Enjoy Christmas all year in North Pole.
- Go to Kennicot and McCarthy in the Wrangell-St Elias National Park.
- Pan for gold at El Dorado gold mine or another local creek.
- Take a ride on the Riverboat Discovery.
- Get "cultured" at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Free "Lunch Bites" music festival every day during the festival!
- Watch an outdoor performance by the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre.
- Go to the UA Museum.
- Organize an Ultimate frisbee tournament.
- Visit the Muskoxen at UAF's Large Animal Research Center
- Tour the Museum of the North on the UAF campus, or the Ice Museum downtown.
- Go Rock climbing.
- Celebrate Golden Days Week in mid July.
- See a movie at Regal Cinemas.
- Buy a summer membership ($50) to the Student Recreation Center gym.
- Go to a Midnight Sun Goldpanners baseball game (late June to early July).
- Check out Alaska Land, ride the train, check out the shops, watch boaters on the river.
- Play volleyball or softball with people in the dorms.
- Go contra-dancing at Alaska Land.
- Go pick berries. They're everywhere!
- Buy fresh food at the Farmers' Market.
- Check out the World Eskimo Indian Olympics (mid to late July).
- Go to Hot Licks for homemade Ice Cream.
- Go to Bun On The Run for lunch or breakfast.
