Using ARSC Web Services

Overview

ARSC offers web services for current ARSC users and active ARSC projects.   This allows projects to share the results of their research.   For more information on service offerings, see the ARSC Web Base Services page.

Getting Started

ARSC provides several linux systems which provide access to web services content.   These systems can be accessed using ssh, scp or sftp compatible applications.

Currently the following systems provide access to web content:

  • kappa.arsc.edu
  • omega.arsc.edu

Web contents may be found in the following directories:

  • /web/people/NAME/html - content served by http://www.people.arsc.edu
  • /web/projects/PROJECT_NAME/html - content served by http://www.projects.arsc.edu
  • /web/tier34/PROJECT_NAME/html - content server by project specific website

NOTE: "Basic websites" and "Enhance websites" hosted in the the "tier34" directory may request login access to the web server if there is a project related need for that access that cannot be fulfilled with standard linux system access.

Storage Limits

Default storage limits for /web directories are 512 MB.   Increased quotas are available upon request, however data sets requiring significant storage should be hosted via using a project specfic "Basic Website" or "Enhanced Website".
